Guest of Honour: Linda Wolfsgruber
Magical dreamlike worlds depicted in an extraordinarily expressive language invite us to interpret every stroke and every mark, as they envelop us in soft colours or draw us in with their black and white simplicity: this is the work of Linda Wolfsgruber, who turns every book into a new artistic experience. Her skilful stroke loves to metamorphose and her technical ability constantly renews itself to create new combinations, where etching, monotype and collage, to name but a few, breathe new life into a universe of unrestrained forms, allowing the imagination to roam free with an unusual humour. This rich anthology dedicated to her work is a rare opportunity to discover how this talented professional has evolved.
Linda Wolfsgruber, who was born in Bruneck, now lives and works in Vienna, and has received the most important Austrian illustration award several times. The BIB awarded her the Golden Apple in 1997 and in 2010 she was nominated for the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Award. Sàrmede noted her early work and her significant achievements and Štěpán Zavřel welcomed her as a teacher to the International School of Illustration. Thanks to her passion for teaching she continues to be a point of reference for numerous young illustrators.
